Synopsis
Fortress of War (Брестская крепость, 2010) is a Russian-Belarusian war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Alexander Kott. On the morning of June 22, 1941, the Brest Fortress absorbed the opening barrage of Germany's invasion — minutes before any formal declaration, before any order to prepare.
Cut off from the outside and from each other, three separate pockets of resistance formed independently: Colonel Gavrilov (Andrei Merzlikin) in the eastern fort, commissar Fomin (Pavel Derevyanko) in the Citadel, and border post chief Kizhevatov at the gates. No relief column came. The story runs through fifteen-year-old Sasha, who had been thinking about a girl that morning — and found himself inside the war's most brutal opening hours.
Kott built the film from declassified records and survivor testimony, keeping the perspective human rather than panoramic. No triumphant finale, no easy arcs — just soldiers who held on without help coming. Shot on location with careful period detail. Stream Fortress of War (2010) online on iFILM.
