Synopsis
The Lost Children (Los niños perdidos, 2024) is a documentary worth watching online on iFILM. A small plane goes down in the Colombian rainforest, and four Indigenous children are left alone deep in the Amazon.
The oldest girl is thirteen; the youngest is under a year old. For more than forty days they push through the jungle — eating what their grandmother and the forest taught them, dodging predators, leaving signs for anyone who might be searching. Above the canopy, a rescue effort unlike anything the country had mounted takes shape: soldiers, helicopters, shamans, and a search dog named Wilson.
Orlando von Einsiedel, Lali Houghton and Jorge Duran assembled the film without melodrama, drawing on the participants' own accounts and ground footage. This isn't a reenactment of the tragedy but a calm account of how the ancestral knowledge of the Huitoto people outlasted modern technology. It's for viewers after a documentary about real survival rather than staged extremes. Stream The Lost Children online on iFILM.
