My Scientology Movie (2016) is a British documentary you can watch online on iFILM. Journalist Louis Theroux set out to film inside the Church of Scientology — and got locked out immediately. So he hired actors instead.

Together with director John Dower and former senior Church official Marty Rathbun, Theroux stages dramatic reconstructions of events Rathbun witnessed from the inside: punishment routines, loyalty rituals, the mechanics of control. Almost immediately, the Church starts monitoring the production. The line between re-enactment and real confrontation keeps blurring.

What makes this work is Theroux's method: he doesn't lecture, he just keeps showing up and watching what happens next. Released while the HBO docuseries Going Clear was still fresh in public memory, this film finds a different angle — less testimony, more live experiment.
