4L (2019) is a Spanish-French road-trip dramedy you can watch online on iFILM. Jean Reno and Hovik Keuchkerian play two estranged old friends who climb into a beat-up Renault 4 and point it toward the Sahara.

The reason is heavy: their friend Joseba is dying in Mali, and the pair set out to bring his daughter Ely to him for a last goodbye. The drive from Spain across the desert turns into thousands of kilometres of breakdowns, dust and the awkward silence of men who long ago stopped understanding each other. Susana Abaitua plays the daughter caught between them. Director Gerardo Olivares, a veteran of desert documentaries, shoots the Sahara as a real, scorched place rather than a postcard.
