Synopsis
"Among Wolves" (Entrelobos, 2010) is a Spanish drama directed by Gerardo Olivares, available to watch online on iFILM. The story draws on the real life of Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, a boy handed over by his father at age seven to a wealthy landowner who sent him off to herd goats in a remote mountain valley with a hermit shepherd.
When the old man dies, Marcos is left with no adults, no shelter, and nothing but the hills and the animals that share them. Lead actor Juan José Ballesta carries the film almost wordlessly through seasons of cold, hunger and slow adaptation. The real Marcos — grown now — appears on screen as himself, which gives the film an emotional charge no script could manufacture.
