Synopsis
The Lighthouse of the Orcas (2016) — an Argentine-Spanish drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Gerardo Olivares. Lola (Maribel Verdú) is raising her son Tristan alone. He has severe autism and has gone years without meaningful emotional contact with anyone around him. A newspaper article about orcas in Patagonia gives her an idea, and she books a flight to the far end of Argentina.
On Valdés Peninsula, ranger Beto (Joaquín Furriel) works a remote stretch of coastline where orcas beach themselves voluntarily to interact with people. These animals, not therapists or medication, are what begin to reach Tristan. The film is based on a true story, and Verdú plays a mother running on stubbornness and love without a single overdone moment.
