Synopsis
Brothers of the Wind (2015) is an Austrian family adventure you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Otmar Penker and Gerardo Olivares and filmed on location in the Alps with real golden eagles. Manuel Camacho plays Lukas, a boy living in mountain country with a father who has gone silent since losing his wife.
In the nest above, the firstborn eaglet does what eagles do — shoves his smaller brother into the void. The younger bird, Abel, survives the fall and ends up in Lukas's hands. The boy nurses him in secret, finding in the creature the companionship his home no longer offers. Jean Reno plays Danzer, a reclusive figure who reads wild animals better than he reads people, and guides Lukas through what it actually takes to return something to the wild. Tobias Moretti plays the father — a performance built almost entirely out of silence and turned shoulders.
There are no digital effects here; the aerial footage of eagles in flight over Austrian ridgelines is the real thing. A film that works for children without softening anything for them. Stream Brothers of the Wind online on iFILM.
