The Merry Widow

The Merry Widow (Enfin veuve, 2007) is a French comedy to watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Isabelle Mergault and starring Michèle Laroque. Anne-Marie has the correct life: rich husband, seafront house, all the right furniture. She also has Leo — her lover of two years — and when her husband dies in a car accident, relief is the first thing she feels.

Then the family moves in. Her son expects grief. The aunts rotate through shifts of supportive presence. The neighbours bring soup. Playing bereaved widow to a man she was finished with turns out to need constant maintenance, especially when Leo is a phone call away and she cannot make it.
