Synopsis

A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966) — watch online on iFILM — is a sharply written Western comedy directed by Fielder Cook, starring Henry Fonda and Joanne Woodward.

A family crossing Texas stops in Laredo on a whim. Once a year the wealthiest men in the county convene there for a closed-door poker game with stakes that could buy a ranch outright. Meredith (Fonda) cannot resist sitting in — and before long he has wagered every cent the family owns. At the worst possible moment he collapses with a heart attack. His wife (Woodward) takes the empty seat, insisting she has never played a hand in her life. Jason Robards, Burgess Meredith, and Charles Bickford round out the table, each one more suspicious than the last.

The picture plays as a gentle farce about recklessness and beginner's luck — right up until the final hand, when it turns out to be something else entirely. Stream A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966) online on iFILM.
