The Bubble

The Bubble (2006) is an Israeli drama by director Eytan Fox you can watch online on iFILM. Three Tel Aviv roommates — a straight couple and their gay friend — share an apartment in the city's lively center. Their world shifts when Ashraf, a Palestinian from a West Bank checkpoint, turns up and falls for one of them.

Fox uses Tel Aviv's famous detachment from the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict as the film's structural argument. "The Bubble" is what locals call the city — a place where young people party and protest and fall in love as if the checkpoint an hour away doesn't exist.
