Synopsis
"The Best Movie" ("Самый лучший фильм", 2008) is a Russian comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Vadik Volnov — played by Garik Kharlamov — dies at his own wedding and lands in a celestial waiting room. God's secretary needs a full accounting of his earthly years before letting him through.
Cue the flashbacks: an eight-year-old raiding the cognac, military service in Afghanistan, surviving the chaotic 1990s, and finally finding love. The ensemble pulls in Mikhail Galustyan, Pavel Volya, Dmitry Nagiyev and Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, each doing their recognizable TV persona. Director Kirill Kuzin built it as a scrapbook of early-2000s Russian pop culture — the jokes land sharpest if you were watching Russian television back then.
