Synopsis
Chainsaws Were Singing (2024) is an Estonian horror-musical you can watch online on iFILM, and yes, the cast really does break into song mid-slaughter. Tom has just fallen for Maria when a chainsaw-wielding maniac from a family of cannibals drags her off into the woods. Tom and his buddy Jaan grab whatever courage they have and give chase.
Director Sander Maran pitches the whole thing as Texas Chainsaw meeting Monty Python by way of Les Misérables: geysers of fake blood, goofy production numbers and proudly handmade gore. He and a crew of Estonian volunteers spent the better part of a decade building it, and that scrappy energy shows. This one is aimed squarely at midnight crowds who love splatter with a soundtrack, not at anyone after a straight scare. Blood, belly laughs and a choir of revving saws.
