Synopsis
Playing with Love (Maladolescenza, 1977) is an Italian–West German drama by Pier Giuseppe Murgia, available to watch online on iFILM. The picture is remembered first and foremost for its scandal: it was banned outright in many countries.
The story unfolds in a forest where, summer after summer, two children keep meeting — twelve-year-old Laura and the withdrawn Fabrizio, who has only his dog for company. Their childhood bond curdles into a cruel game once a third arrives: the bold, assertive Sylvia. What began as innocent play slides into manipulation and humiliation and ends in tragedy. Lara Wendel, Éva Ionesco and Martin Loeb take the lead roles.
Murgia's film stands as one of the most contested European pictures of the 1970s, still surrounded by unresolved ethical argument.
