9 Seconds

9 Seconds (2024) is a Russian war drama you can watch online on iFILM. It retells the true story of conscript sailor Aldar Tsydenzhapov, who gave his own life to save the crew of the destroyer Bystry.

A Pacific Fleet naval base. A fuel line ruptures, fire breaks out below deck, and with 348 people aboard there is almost no time to react. A nineteen-year-old from a small Transbaikal village — a kid who had dreamed of the navy since childhood, following his grandfather — throws himself toward the blaze to shut down the engine. Those nine seconds in the flames are the whole film.

Director Oleg Shtrom keeps the telling restrained and close to the documented facts, with Bato Shoynzhonov, Dmitry Pevtsov and Daniil Spivakovsky in the cast.
