Synopsis
Long Weekend (1979) is an Australian eco-horror you can watch online on iFILM. Peter and Marcia, a married couple already coming apart, haul a tent out to a remote stretch of coast, as if a holiday could patch what has long been broken.
They litter, hack at trees, fire at wildlife, run something down on the road. The bush answers back. It starts small — a dive-bombing bird, cries in the dark, a dugong carcass on the sand that somehow seems to creep closer. The more the two tear into each other, the tighter the coastline closes around their camp, with no enemy you can actually point at.
Director Colin Eggleston built a horror film with no monster on screen: the threat is the offended land itself. The tagline put it flat — their crime was against nature, and nature found them guilty. A quiet Ozploitation gem prized for dread over gore. Stream Long Weekend (1979) online on iFILM.
