"Courier of Special Importance" (2013) is a Russian spy-adventure series you can watch online on iFILM. The setting: Petrograd, 1916, with the war grinding on the Eastern Front and the empire quietly falling apart. Counterintelligence captain Vasily Shchepkin runs a four-person unit tasked with hunting German agents hidden behind civilian facades.

Directed by Oleg Fomin, with Semyon Shkalikov, Alexei Faddeev, Guram Bablishvili and Viktoria Poltorak. The period detail is convincing and the procedural tension holds — this is one of the better-realized pre-revolution spy productions Russian TV put out, made before the genre got expensive and formulaic.
