Wonders of Life (2013) is a BBC documentary series you can watch online on iFILM, hosted by physicist Brian Cox. The question driving all five episodes is a simple one: given the fundamental laws of physics — light, gravity, time, matter, energy — how exactly did life emerge and become this varied over 3.7 billion years?
Cox shoots across the globe, from rainforest to coral reef to open desert, using each location to ground an abstract principle in something visible and concrete. One episode pulls apart what energy actually means inside a living cell. Another looks at why time flows only one way — and what that has to do with thermodynamics and a living body.
This works better than most nature documentaries precisely because Cox refuses to separate biology from physics. The question is never just what lives here but why living works at all. Stream Wonders of Life online on iFILM.
