Synopsis
The Brothers Karamazov (2009) is a Russian dramatic mini-series you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Yuri Moroz. It adapts Dostoevsky's final novel — the book he spent nearly two years writing and regarded as his fullest account of what human beings are capable of. Pavel Derevyanko, Alexander Golubev, and Igor Afanasyev head the cast.
Fyodor Karamazov, the dissolute patriarch, spends freely, lives recklessly, and has no plans to die. His three sons have ended up at opposite poles: Dmitry swings between passion and shame, Ivan has reasoned his way to a firm atheism, and youngest Alyosha holds a steady faith that the others cannot quite shake off. When the old man is found dead, Dmitry is the obvious suspect — and the trial opens into a prolonged argument about guilt, free will, and whether justice is achievable at all.
Moroz resists the pull to thin Dostoevsky down for television. The series holds the moral weight of its source. Stream The Brothers Karamazov online on iFILM.
