Synopsis
Russian Beauty (2016) is a Russian drama series you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1961, and Katerina Panova is a young woman in a small village outside Moscow who has never thought about modelling. Then somebody notices her face. Within a few seasons she is on runways in Paris and Prague, described by the foreign press as a national treasure of the USSR — a title the Soviet state is happy to claim.
Back home, the picture is harder to read. Her father nurses a private jealousy. Her sister Lyuba grew up in the same house and could not be more different. The modelling circuit runs on envy and bureaucratic favour, and the love Katerina finds along the way does not survive the distance between her world and theirs. Karina Andolenko carries the role steadily even when the script leans into melodrama. Pavel Priluchny co-stars.
