The film follows four of them at once. Maggie ditches a dull gathering to chase a boy she noticed earlier that day. Shy newcomer Rob is hung up on a girl whose name he never caught. An older student keeps hunting for two sisters he glimpsed a year ago and can't forget. Mitchell shoots it all without irony or adult condescension — long warm takes, barely any plot, and a lot of quiet, awkward pauses where first crushes live. Three years before he made the horror hit It Follows, he turned in something tender and almost storyless: a mood piece for anyone who misses summers they can't get back.
