Synopsis
Staten Island (2009) is a crime drama by James DeMonaco you can watch online on iFILM. Three men share one corner of New York, and their paths are bound to cross. Parmie Tarzo wants the whole local rackets to himself.
Vincent D'Onofrio plays the ambitious mob boss who, oddly, starts asking what his life adds up to. Ethan Hawke is Sully, a deaf deli worker with a baby on the way, scraping for the money to hand his son the shot he never got. The third thread is Jasper, a meek accountant played by Seymour Cassel, pulled into the mob's books and unable to climb back out. Their stories close in slowly, then snap together.
DeMonaco, who later created The Purge, builds something small and bruised here: ordinary people on the edge of a big city, drawn with dark humor and a surprising tenderness.
