Synopsis
Still Life (2013) is a British-Italian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Uberto Pasolini built it around a single performance from Eddie Marsan — and it's quiet enough that you hear every footstep.
John May works for a London borough council. For 22 years his job has been the same: when someone dies alone, with no next of kin on record, he tracks down any surviving relatives and arranges the funeral. If no one comes, he attends himself. He keeps a photograph of each person in their file. Then his department is cut and John is handed one last case before his position disappears. Joanne Froggatt plays the daughter of that final man.
Pasolini frames dignity as a daily practice rather than a dramatic act, and Marsan carries that without a single showy scene. The film was picked up after its Venice premiere and earned Marsan a string of nominations for best performance. For anyone who finds most dramas too loud — this is that rare thing the tagline promises. Watch Still Life online on iFILM.
