Synopsis
Sidewalks of New York (2001) is a romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM — written, directed, and starring Edward Burns as TV producer Tommy, freshly out of a relationship and wandering. Six people in New York. Three men. Three women. None of them realize they are all connected.
Real estate agent Annie (Heather Graham) starts seeing Tommy while her husband Griffin (Stanley Tucci) quietly pursues a 19-year-old waitress, Ashley (Brittany Murphy). Ashley, however, is more interested in street musician Ben (David Krumholtz), who happens to be the ex-husband of Maria (Rosario Dawson) — the very woman Tommy met in a store that same week.
Burns shot it in a mockumentary style, mixing scenes from his characters' lives with candid-style street interviews that function as a dry running commentary on city romance. Dennis Farina and Aida Turturro fill out the ensemble. The result is quieter and more honest than a six-person romantic comedy has any right to be. Stream Sidewalks of New York online on iFILM.
