Synopsis
The White Buffalo (1977) is a grim, horror-tinged Western you can watch online on iFILM. J. Lee Thompson directed it, with Charles Bronson taking the lead.
Wild Bill Hickok heads back West under a false name, hounded by the same nightmare night after night: a monstrous white buffalo, big as an elephant, charging straight at him. To kill the dream he goes hunting the beast for real, and ends up riding alongside a young Crazy Horse (Will Sampson), who has his own score to settle with it. Jack Warden and Kim Novak fill out the cast.
It's essentially Moby Dick dropped into the frozen frontier: producer Dino De Laurentiis built a starry lineup around a mechanical buffalo and a hunt that's really a chase after one man's fear.
