Synopsis
North Sea Hijack (ffolkes, 1980) is Andrew V. McLaglen's British action film, ready to watch online on iFILM. A ruthless terrorist named Kramer seizes two North Sea oil rigs and a supply ship, threatening to detonate them with the crews aboard unless the government pays a vast ransom within twelve hours.
The Navy turns to Rufus Excalibur ffolkes, a freelance sabotage expert who trains his own squad of combat frogmen. Roger Moore plays sharply against his Bond image: ffolkes loathes women, dotes on his cats, knits to unwind and drinks whisky by the tumbler. Anthony Perkins is the icy Kramer, and James Mason plays the admiral forced to put up with this prickly consultant.
Based on Jack Davies' own novel, the whole picture rides on one wonderful eccentric — the stranger ffolkes behaves on land, the cooler he works underwater. It's old-school adventure with a dry English wit, made for viewers who enjoy a deliberate, talky countdown over wall-to-wall explosions. Stream North Sea Hijack (1980) online on iFILM.
