Synopsis
Woman of the Year (1942) is George Stevens' romantic comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Sports columnist Sam Craig and high-powered political writer Tess Harding share a newspaper and begin as two people who can't stand each other.
The feud in print sharpens into romance, and romance into a hasty marriage. But Tess speaks four languages, dines with ambassadors, and has no intention of slowing her frantic schedule for a quiet dinner at home — while Sam just wants an ordinary wife around the house. Katharine Hepburn plays the brilliant, unbending careerist; Spencer Tracy is the calm, stubborn match for her.
This is the first of nine films Tracy and Hepburn made together — the picture where they met and where their famous off-screen romance began.
