Synopsis
What happens when the man arguing your case isn't a lawyer at all? Trial and Error (1997), Jonathan Lynn's courtroom comedy, lets you watch online on iFILM and find out. Attorney Charlie Tuttle (Jeff Daniels) drinks himself useless the night before a hearing and begs his washed-up actor pal to cover for him "just this once."
Just this once becomes a full trial. Richard, played by Michael Richards of Seinfeld fame, can't resist a captive audience and keeps improvising — which means Charlie has to feed him a legal strategy from the gallery, inventing it sentence by sentence. A petty mail-fraud charge balloons into a full-blown performance, all while Charlie's wedding to the boss's daughter looms over everything.
