Operation Dumbo Drop

Operation Dumbo Drop (1995) is a Walt Disney Pictures adventure comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Simon Wincer. Danny Glover plays Captain Cahill, a US Army officer stationed in Vietnam in 1968 who makes a promise to a Montagnard village: replace their ceremonial elephant, killed in a raid, before the next ritual. Ray Liotta's Captain Doyle is handed this assignment against his will and spends most of the film in a state of barely contained disbelief. Denis Leary is the third wheel, sharp-tongued and allergic to anything resembling a plan. The elephant, for its part, has its own agenda and reliably destroys whatever logistics the team manages to arrange. Two hundred miles of Vietnamese jungle, one enormous animal, and five soldiers who were not trained for this.

The film is based on an actual Green Beret mission, which makes the absurdity feel earned rather than invented. It plays as a family adventure, but Wincer doesn't sand down the chaos — the jungle is genuinely difficult and the stakes feel real enough to hold the comedy together.
