Synopsis
$5 a Day (2008) is a comedy-drama road movie you can watch online on iFILM. Nat is an aging con man who brags that he lives like a king on just five dollars a day, working every coupon, freebie and angle the country has to offer.
His grown son Flynn wants nothing to do with him — he once did jail time for one of his father's schemes. Then Nat claims he's dying and talks Flynn into driving him across the United States. Flynn reluctantly climbs in, and the trip turns into a slow, prickly reconciliation where every word out of his father has to be checked for a lie. Christopher Walken and Alessandro Nivola play the leads, with Sharon Stone and Amanda Peet along the way.
Directed by Nigel Cole, the film rides almost entirely on Walken's sly charm — is this a frail old man or the setup for one last hustle? Light, easygoing stuff for anyone who likes stories about deadbeat dads and the open road. Stream $5 a Day online on iFILM.
