Synopsis
Cobweb (2023) is a Korean tragicomedy from Kim Jee-woon you can watch online on iFILM, with Song Kang-ho as a director obsessed with reshooting the ending of his own film.
The year is 1970s Korea, where censors gut every script before it reaches the screen. Director Kim is certain his finished movie will become a masterpiece if he can only redo the finale. He has two days, a single soundstage, mutinous actors, bewildered producers and officials clutching scissors — every one of them in his way. Kim drives his crew into chaos where each take threatens disaster and obsession slides into mania. The film-within-the-film keeps spilling over into the black-and-white triumph running in his head.
Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil, A Bittersweet Life) made both a love letter to filmmaking and a stinging jab at the people who maim it. Cobweb screened at Cannes. Song Kang-ho anchors an ensemble in which an on-set meltdown plays funnier than any staged farce. Stream Cobweb (2023) online on iFILM.
