Synopsis
A Jazzman's Blues (2022) is Tyler Perry's period drama, available to watch online on iFILM. A forbidden romance plays out across four decades, from the cotton fields of Georgia to smoky juke joints up north.
Bayou, a gentle young singer, falls for Leanne, a light-skinned girl whose family, race and circumstance keep pulling them apart. He leaves, builds a name in blues and jazz, and his return home unearths buried secrets — and a murder that echoes for years. Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer play the couple, with Amirah Vann alongside them.
Perry wrote this script back in 1995 and sat on it for nearly thirty years; for a filmmaker best known for the Madea comedies, it's his most personal swing at serious drama.
