About

Synopsis

Inside Deep Throat (2005) is a documentary by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato you can watch online on iFILM. Dennis Hopper narrates. It traces how a cheap 1972 film set off a national argument that nobody saw coming.

Shot in a Florida hotel over six days for twenty-five thousand dollars, Deep Throat starring Linda Lovelace went on to pull in hundreds of millions and turn into a flashpoint for free speech, censorship and the sexual revolution. The directors follow the whole arc: lines around the block, a ban across more than twenty states, courtroom fights, mob money behind the distribution, and the hard story of Lovelace herself. On camera you get Norman Mailer, Gore Vidal, Hugh Hefner, Camille Paglia, John Waters and Erica Jong.

What lands is not a film about pornography but a snapshot of a decade where movies, politics and morality slammed into each other. Bailey and Barbato resist easy verdicts and let the people who were there fight it out. Stream Inside Deep Throat (2005) online on iFILM.
