Synopsis

Scotland Yard is in a panic: a brazen thief is cleaning out England's millionaires without leaving a single fingerprint behind. Out of options, the Yard brings in Clouseau, a man who trips over flat ground and cracks cases purely by accident. Meanwhile the gang behind the wave is plotting a massive heist and deploying masked doubles, so the Clouseau on screen may not always be the genuine article.
Arkin builds his inspector a little differently from the Sellers original: gentler, yet just as unshakably solemn amid total chaos. Director Bud Yorkin keeps it racing at full farce speed, with chases, disguises and disasters out of nowhere.
