Synopsis
3 Faces (Se rokh, 2018) is an Iranian drama by Jafar Panahi you can watch online on iFILM. Acclaimed actress Behnaz Jafari, playing herself, receives a phone video that won't leave her alone: a village girl pleads for help after her family blocked her from acting school.
Jafari walks off her own film set and drives northwest with Panahi to find out whether the girl is even alive. Their road winds into a remote mountain region where old custom still rules every household. Warm hospitality and quiet menace sit side by side. Panahi keeps blurring documentary and fiction until you stop asking which is which.
The movie was made while Iranian authorities had banned Panahi from directing for twenty years, and it took the Best Screenplay prize at Cannes 2018. Slow, watchful and deeply humane, it sits closer to Kiarostami than to any thriller. Stream 3 Faces (2018) online on iFILM.
