Synopsis
The Snows of Kilimanjaro (1952) is a screen version of Ernest Hemingway's short story, ready to watch online on iFILM. Gregory Peck plays writer Harry Street, lying with a gangrenous leg at the foot of the great African mountain, certain the wound will kill him.
As his wife Helen (Susan Hayward) fights the fever, Harry's whole life drifts past him. Paris cafés, a bullfight in Spain, the trenches of war, safaris and big-game hunts — and Cynthia, the one love he lost and never stopped chasing. Ava Gardner plays that woman from the past, the one he would trade everything to reach again.
Director Henry King stretched Hemingway's lean story into a sweeping two-hour Technicolor adventure — an ending the author himself disliked. What carries it is a rare trio of golden-age stars and camerawork that earned an Oscar nomination for its African vistas. It's for viewers who love old films about love, regret and the reckoning a man makes at the end. Stream The Snows of Kilimanjaro (1952) online on iFILM.
