Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster
The deeper you look, the darker it gets.
Synopsis
Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster (2025) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM — directed by Mark Monroe and centered on June 18, 2023, when five people descended toward the Titanic wreck in a tourist submersible and never came back.
Titan lost contact one hour and forty-five minutes into its dive to 3,800 meters. Debris was located four days later, close to the Titanic's bow. The five who died included OceanGate founder Stockton Rush, Titanic specialist Paul-Henri Nargeolet, adventurer Hamish Harding, and father-and-son Shahzada and Suleman Dawood. Monroe gives sustained attention to David Lochridge, the company's former director of marine operations, who was dismissed after raising structural concerns about the carbon-fiber hull.
The film frames the disaster as the end point of a paper trail nobody followed — safety warnings filed and ignored, years of growing risk treated as acceptable. It is not a comfortable watch, and that is the point. Stream Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster online on iFILM.
