Synopsis
Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) is a classic American drama directed by John Ford that you can watch online on iFILM, with Henry Fonda playing Abraham Lincoln years before he became the sixteenth President — when he was still a self-taught lawyer finding his footing in Springfield, Illinois.
The film spans roughly a decade of Lincoln's early life. His first love, Ann Rutledge, dies young and leaves him adrift. He takes up law, meets a sharp and spirited Mary Todd, and eventually lands a case that tests everything he has: two brothers accused of murder, a hostile crowd outside the courthouse, and no easy way out. Lincoln stays the course through stubbornness, wit, and a refusal to let the mob decide the verdict.
Ford isn't interested in the mythology — he's after the man before the myth. Fonda gives Lincoln a rangy, unhurried quality that makes the future greatness feel earned rather than ordained. Stream Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) online on iFILM.
