Synopsis
L'Enfant (The Child, 2005) is a Belgian drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by the Dardenne brothers — Jean-Pierre and Luc. Jérémie Renier plays Bruno, a twenty-year-old who drifts between street thefts and borrowed afternoons, while his girlfriend Sonia (Déborah François) has just given birth to their son Jimmy.
Bruno doesn't plan. He reacts, grabs, moves on. When he spots a chance to make quick money, he takes it — and the transaction he settles on is the kind that cannot be undone. What makes the film quietly devastating is that he isn't monstrous. He's just completely unequipped for consequences.
