Synopsis

A stage actor loses an audition and drifts to the countryside to visit a friend. He gets tangled up with a woman who's already seeing that friend, then quietly moves on. Out on the road he meets someone new — only to realise they've crossed paths before. Hong Sang-soo builds the film like a pattern the protagonist keeps repeating without noticing: same evasions, different women. One of the clearest early examples of how the director uses romantic wandering to expose the way men talk themselves out of their own lives.
