Synopsis
Red Soil (Rouge, 2021) is a French social drama you can watch online on iFILM. Nour has just started as an occupational nurse at a chemical plant, the same factory where her father Slimane has spent years as the staff representative. At first it's routine — check-ups, blood work, paperwork. Then the paperwork stops adding up.
Slimane has long known how to keep the peace with management: look away from toxic discharges into the river, file the illnesses quietly, bury the accidents so the company's image and its jobs survive. Nour goes along with her father's reasoning at first. But the more rigged results and damaged lungs she sees, the harder it gets to stay silent — until she chooses the one thing Slimane spent his whole career avoiding and decides to blow the whistle.
Director Farid Bentoumi builds a taut story about the price of honesty, with the fault line running straight through a family. Zita Hanrot as Nour and Sami Bouajila as her father carry the film on a quiet, near-documentary tension, alongside Céline Sallette and Olivier Gourmet. One for viewers who like European dramas about one person against the machine — no fireworks, just a real moral bind. Stream Red Soil (2021) online on iFILM.
