Synopsis
Wild Diamond (Diamant brut, 2024) is a French debut drama you can stream online on iFILM. Nineteen-year-old Liane lives with her mother and little sister under the hard sun of Fréjus, desperate to become somebody.
Beauty is Liane's whole religion — a grooming blog, a follower count, sculpted nails, and the conviction that looking right is the ticket to being loved by millions. Her chance arrives as an audition for a hit reality show, Miracle Island. While she waits for the call that will supposedly change everything, the film studies her world without judging it: social media as faith, the body as currency, the raw need to be seen. Newcomer Malou Khebizi plays her as brash and breakable at once, never letting the character curdle into caricature.
Agathe Riedinger's first feature landed in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival — rare air for a debut. It's a portrait of a generation raised in front of a phone camera, and it skips the easy moral. One for anyone who likes grounded social drama built on a fierce young lead.
