Synopsis

Moebius (뫼비우스, 2013) is a South Korean drama by director Kim Ki-duk that you can watch online on iFILM. The film has no dialogue at all — not a single spoken word across its 89 minutes. Everything unfolds through action, gesture and silence.

A wife, long humiliated by her husband's affair with a shopkeeper, reaches a breaking point one night. She picks up a knife, heads for the bedroom — he wakes and pushes her out. So she turns to their teenage son's room instead. From that act, Kim Ki-duk constructs a closed loop: each violence generates the next, and the family has no map out. Jo Jae-hyeon, Lee Na-ra and Seo Young-ju carry the film without uttering a word between them.

The film was initially banned in South Korea for its content before a cut was passed for release. Kim Ki-duk, who took the Golden Lion at Venice for "Pietà" the year before, made Moebius as a provocation about inherited cruelty and the family as a site of harm. Difficult viewing, deliberately so.
