4 Little Girls

4 Little Girls (1997) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM — Spike Lee's account of the September 15, 1963 bombing of a Black Baptist church in Birmingham, Alabama. Four girls came to Sunday school that morning and never came home. They were eleven to fourteen years old.

Lee built the film around the witnesses the official record overlooked: the parents, the classmates, the neighbors who kept living in Birmingham after. Former Alabama Governor George Wallace — once the most visible face of segregation in America — sits for an interview here too. His presence changes the weight of everything around it.
