Thomas (Benno Fürmann) comes home from Afghanistan with a dishonourable discharge and nothing in his account. He takes a job driving delivery routes for Ali (Hilmi Sözer), a Turkish owner of forty-five roadside snack bars who has just lost his licence. The work is steady. Then Thomas meets Laura (Nina Hoss), Ali's wife, and steady becomes something else entirely.
