Synopsis
Fox and His Friends (1975) is Rainer Werner Fassbinder's drama you can watch online on iFILM. Fassbinder himself plays Fox, a guileless carnival performer who suddenly wins half a million marks in the lottery.
With the windfall, Fox tries to buy his way into a world that was never built for him. His new lover, Eugen, comes from money and knows his wines, his music and which fork to use. At first the cash smooths everything over. But Eugen's polished circle sees Fox as a wallet rather than a partner, and bleeds him dry with impeccable manners. Fassbinder shapes a love story into an autopsy of exploitation.
It ranks among his most personal films: being gay is not the scandal here but the backdrop, against which the real subject surfaces — money and class deciding who gets loved and who gets used. Cold and merciless, it is for anyone who values 1970s German auteur cinema. Stream Fox and His Friends (1975) online on iFILM.
