Synopsis
The Miracle of Marcelino (Marcelino pan y vino, 1955) is a Spanish-Italian drama directed by Ladislao Vajda, available to watch online on iFILM. An infant left at the door of a monastery is taken in by the monks, raised with care but without a mother or playmates his own age. They call him Marcelino and he grows up between stone walls and long silences.
One day he slips into a locked attic and discovers a crucifix. What follows is a friendship — and eventually a wish. Pablito Calvo plays Marcelino with an unaffected naturalness that keeps the film from tipping into sentimentality; Fernando Rey appears among the monastery's friars.
