Synopsis
A Plastic Ocean (2016) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM. Journalist and diver Craig Leeson set out to film blue whales and instead found a slick of floating plastic drifting in open water, thousands of miles from the nearest coast.
With record-breaking free-diver Tanya Streeter, he spent four years visiting twenty locations around the globe, from the Mediterranean to the Arctic ice. The camera goes underwater, opens the stomachs of dead seabirds, and traces microplastics into bottled water and into the fish on the shop shelf. Across 102 minutes there is no lecturing — just data, labs, footage, and one plain question about where that checkout bag actually ends up.
What lifts it above the usual eco-doom: it spends as much time on fixes as on the problem, looking at recycling, smarter packaging and cleanup tech. A Hong Kong production with a sharp camera crew. Stream A Plastic Ocean (2016) online on iFILM.
