Synopsis
Murder Party (2007) is a horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM — the feature debut of director Jeremy Saulnier, shot on a shoestring in Brooklyn. Halloween night. A forgettable guy finds a random invitation on the street, builds a knight costume out of a cardboard box, and shows up.
The people waiting for him are a self-serious art collective with one very specific project: kill him and film it as a creative act. The plan unravels immediately. Nobody in the group agrees on method, several of them are on various substances, and the "subject" turns out to be significantly harder to dispatch than they anticipated. Chris Sharp plays the hapless guest; Macon Blair — who would go on to appear in Green Room and Revenge alongside Saulnier — is one of the would-be killers.
Knowing what Saulnier made next — lean, brutal, unsparing — this early film reads like a director burning off the absurdity before getting serious. It's chaotic and cheap and genuinely funny in the right places. Stream Murder Party (2007) online on iFILM.
