Synopsis
Six-String Samurai (1998) is a post-apocalyptic action fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. Decades after a nuclear war, a sand-buried Las Vegas rules what's left of America, and its rock 'n' roll king has just died, leaving the throne wide open.
Across the wasteland walks Buddy: a skinny, horn-rimmed hero modeled on Buddy Holly, a guitar slung over one shoulder and a samurai sword in his free hand. He's headed for Vegas to claim the crown. Along the way he picks up an orphaned kid, fights off cannibals, bowler-hatted thugs and a small Russian army, and stays one step ahead of Death himself — a grinning guitarist in black who wants the same throne.
Lance Mungia's debut was shot on almost no money but runs on pure invention, scored by surf-rock band the Red Elvises, two of whom show up on screen. It's exactly as ridiculous as it needs to be, which is how it became a VHS-era cult favorite that still holds up. If you like films wedged between the western, kung-fu and rock 'n' roll, this one's a trophy. Stream Six-String Samurai online on iFILM.
