The Keeping Room

The Keeping Room (2014) is a Civil War-era thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Daniel Barber sets his film in the final weeks of the conflict: two sisters and their enslaved companion Mad are alone on an isolated Southern farm, waiting out the end of a war that has taken all the men.

Hailee Steinfeld plays Augusta, Brit Marling is her sister Louise, and Muna Otaru is Mad. When two rogue Union soldiers track Augusta back to the farmhouse after an attempted assault, the trio arms up and prepares to hold the house. Sam Worthington plays one of the soldiers — not as a straightforward villain, but as someone the war hollowed out long before this confrontation.
